The Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel was started by our Italian ancestors thanking God through the intercession of the Blessed Mother for their safe passage to the USA and the bounty of their crops. The 150th Anniversary of the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Festival was extraordinary!  The largest crowds that we have seen in decades with a feeling of profound faith and tradition.


The Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Society would like to extend a sincere thank you to Bishop Williams, Father David, St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Parish and Staff, Supporting Parishes, Participating Societies and Organizations all of the employees of the Town of Hammonton, Chief Friel, the Hammonton Police Department, Sheriff O'Donoghue and the Atlantic County Sheriff Department, AtlantiCare, Chief Macri and the Hammonton Fire Companies, Mayor DiDonato and Council, the Carmine Pantalone Mt. The main function of the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Society is the preparation and presentation of the feast each July 16th.  The Society is also involved in a variety of community activities and charitable endeavors.  Annually supporting local school, community and church fund raising efforts in Hammonton.

The Our Lady of Mount Carmel Society is an independent nonprofit Catholic Organization formed in 1875 by Italian immigrants new to Hammonton, New Jersey, who took time to celebrate their safe journey to America and a successful harvest by giving praise and thanks to the blessed Virgin Mary.

From those beginnings, the Mt. Carmel Society has continued forward to this day.  The Society consists of members of the town's Catholic Church Parish and Parishes beyond.  Since its inception, membership in the society has generally passed from father to son.  On occasion, as needs require, membership is increased to include extended family members or devout Catholics sponsored by a member in good standing.
